Multi-vehicle accident leaves 6 injuries

It was reported on June 29 that an Ontario man was facing criminal charges after he was involved in a multi-vehicle accident that left a 12-year-old boy with critical injuries. According to the police, the accident resulted in a total of six people being taken to hospital as a result of crash injuries.

According to the report, the crash occurred in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 401 at approximately 1:30 a.m. It appears that a tractor-trailer was traveling in the westbound lane on the highway when it jackknifed, causing it to hit the guardrail and the median that separates the eastbound and westbound lanes. The force of the car crash caused pieces of the concrete median to end up in the eastbound lanes, resulting in other vehicles to become involved in the accident.

Two of the injured reportedly suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The remaining three suffered injuries that were said to be minor. Police stated that the man accused of causing the accident was taken into custody at the scene of the crash. He was ultimately charged with impaired driving. However, authorities did not state which vehicle the man was actually driving.

Although vehicles have gotten safer, drivers and other vehicle occupants are always at risk for becoming involved in a serious car accident caused by a drunk or impaired driver. In cases where a drunk or impaired driver was a major factor in a car crash that leaves a person with serious or even life-threatening injuries, a personal injury lawyer may assist with helping the injured person seek compensation for his or her injuries. Compensation might potentially be sought for medical costs and any lost income if the injured person can suddenly not work due to the injuries he or she sustained.
