48-year-old Ontario man perishes on roadside

On March 6, a 48-year-old man from Toronto died after getting out of his car near the intersection of Highway 400 and Highway 401. According to reports, he exited his vehicle so that he could attend to a flat tire. It is unclear how long he was stopped before another car ran into him. The collision occurred at around 3 a.m., just two hours before a similar incident took place in Mississauga.

Fatal January bus crash results in charges for driver

A fatal bus crash in Ontario on Jan. 14 has led to charges for the 66-year-old driver on duty that night. Of the five passengers on the bus at the time, one was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The accident happened around 10 p.m. as the bus travelled toward York University on 407. The bus rolled over and a guardrail was driven through the front and down the aisle. It is expected that the diagnostic computer from the bus may show whether the driver was speeding at the time.

Ontario right-of-way regulations

When someone comes to an intersection, it is important that they have right-of-way before proceeding. Simply using a blinker signal is not enough to obtain right-of-way; other motorists or pedestrians may have the right to proceed through an area depending on the type of intersection. When a vehicle arrives at the interaction also plays a role in who has right-of-way.
