Fatigue, speed blamed in crash that injured comedian and killed 1

Serious motor vehicle accidents can impact people from all backgrounds, even individuals who are famous. Residents of the province of Ontario may remember the trucking accident that occurred in the United States and resulted in devastating injuries to comedian Tracy Morgan and others who were traveling in the 10-seat limo with him. One man was hurt so badly that he died as a result of his injuries.

While over the course of the past year, Morgan has been recovering from his injuries—including a traumatic brain injury—the safety board responsible for looking into such matters in the U.S., conducted an investigation of the fatal crash. It recently shared its final findings.

As suspected, it was determined that driver fatigue was the cause of the crash. More specifically, the accident, which occurred in a construction work zone, could have been prevented completely if the driver would have slowed the truck down to the speed limit posted. According to the board, the truck was travelling 65 mph instead of the posted 45 mph. Had it been travelling at the posted speed, it would have been able to stop before striking the limo.

While this incident did not occur in Canada, car accidents due to fatigued drivers happen in Ontario as well. Here too they are completely preventable. When they do occur in the Mississauga area it is possible that the injured parties could pursue compensation for their injuries. Since these cases are so complicated it is important to contact a personal injury lawyer as soon after the injury occurs, as possible.
