Injured construction workers may need help with disability claims

The construction industry in Ontario never seems to take a rest. That's good news for workers, most of whom are able to find employment without difficulty. Construction work is a high-risk occupation, however, and the threat of suffering a personal injury is always present. If that happens, as it did for two workers in Toronto recently, any injured workers may require assistance with their disability claims

The accident happened on April 10, on the site of a new downtown high-rise development. Three workers were getting ready to move a concrete form, when the form unexpectedly collapsed. All three men suffered injuries, although one man's injuries were not serious.

The second injured party suffered an injury to his back and went to hospital for treatment. The third worker suffered a punctured lung during the incident. He was rushed to a trauma centre for care. In the wake of the accident, all work at the site was shut down.

Construction work is intensely physical in nature, and anyone hurt on the job may have difficulty returning to work until fully healed. During that time of recovery, it is vital that the injured parties continue to have an income, and this is often addressed through disability claims. Insurers sometimes resist paying claims, and that's when it can be very helpful to have a skilled and determined Ontario personal injury lawyer advocating on one's behalf. If you, a friend or a family member are the victim of someone's negligence and suffering from injuries and losses, it makes good sense to contact an attorney to learn your rights and what steps you should be taking in order to protect your rights for the future.
